Progress is something we always strive for, but as we push forward with each step, it isn't always clear what we've accomplished. If we’re honest, we realize that we’re not where we were, but maybe we're not quite where we want to be either. This is the heart of Middleground, the latest effort from Virginia natives Hemingway.
There’s certainly no despair to be found within the words and melodies of Middleground, but it is a relentlessly honest look inward at how the paths we take in life can shape us. It’s not always easy or painless to shine the light on ourselves, but with each song Middleground invites the listener to do just that and take a step forward.
Since the band’s inception in late 2013, Hemingway has had a strong DIY work ethic, constantly pushing for progress. Coming out of the gate with a full length album entitled Light Will Follow, Hemingway has since released several singles and an acoustic EP, all leading up to the release of Middleground. With each release, members of the band have handled all production, recording, mixing, design, and promotion. Booking on their own as well, they have played shows up and down the east coast, including places like Philadelphia, Morgantown, Baltimore, Richmond, Raleigh, and Greenville.
