《Death and the Flower》的人员配置是Keith Jarrett在六十年代中期的老朋友贝斯手Charlie Haden和鼓手Paul Motian，再加上七十年代加入的萨克斯手Dewey Redman，是他标准的四重奏团体。这张Keith Jarrett在Impulse!旗下的第二张专辑要比1974年的第一张专辑《Treasure Island》柔和。在长达近23分钟的专辑同名曲《Death And The Flower》起程转折尽显绝妙，而Keith Jarrett在《Prayer》中的solo部分似乎已经听到了《The Köln Concert》的声音。
