Ten Penny Orchestra offers a lushly orchestrated blend of symphonic colors and synthesized textures. But this is not sleepy music. Rather, it is thought provoking and engaging. Richly melodic, relaxing and memorable, you'll find 58 minutes of classically inspired cinematic instrumentals, reminiscent of the finest 20th century composers. Written by Andrew Hare, a Seattle based musician and artist, TPO's music is created as much for his own enjoyment as it is for global release. "I write a lot of this stuff to be an inspirational soundtrack as I paint," he says. "Through an early interest in classical music, I developed an appreciation for melodies and the richness of symphonic orchestration. Add to that the possibilities of synthesized sounds and samples, and it's an amazing musical palette indeed. I've been composing in different ways almost as long as I've been playing. It's the method of capturing the music that has changed over the years, and the convergence of technology and my own musical maturity has made this project [Ten Penny Orchestra] finally possible." Andrew began as an active musician in Los Angeles in the late '60's, performing with The Association and members of The Lovin' Spoonful and The Turtles. After a stint as drummer for the '80's L.A. new-wave band Bugs Tomorrow, he moved to Seattle to begin a career in textile and print design for the apparel industry. A decision several years ago to pursue art and music full time led to a successful career as a painter showing with major Seattle art galleries. He has also been in demand as a studio and performing musician with various northwest rock, country and bluegrass bands and songwriters. He can currently be seen on drums with Snake Suspenderz, and playing bass with Uffington Horse and Strange Jerome.
